How much cash you can carry before you must declare it

Almost nowhere limits how much money you may carry. What countries impose is a duty to declare it above a threshold, and the penalty for crossing that line undeclared is seizure rather than a fine. The thresholds are set nationally except across the EU, where one figure covers every external border. Amounts here stay in the currency the rule is written in; the converter turns them into yours.
