Other nationalities, such as Canada and India, can obtain a visa through the e-Visa system, at the border (for India, only with a listed foreign visa or residence permit) or at an embassy; some, such as Tanzania, must obtain one in advance at an embassy by invitation only. From 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, nationals of 111 listed countries who hold a residence permit from the US, an EU or Schengen state or a listed Gulf state can enter without a visa.

Armenia is a party to the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (UN Treaty Collection). Armenia's national services gateway, in a guide compiled with the Road Police, says foreigners can drive with a foreign licence that meets the Vienna Convention requirements (including all information also written in Latin letters); a licence that does not may be used together with an international driver's licence meeting those requirements, and both must be carried.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Armenia?

Armenia's Foreign Ministry visa search tool says citizens of countries including the US, the UK, Germany, Russia, Japan and the UAE need no visa and can stay up to 180 days in a year; citizens of China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uruguay can stay up to 90 days. Other nationalities, such as Canada and India, can obtain a visa through the e-Visa system (a visitor visa for up to 21 or 120 days of stay), at the border (for India, only with a listed foreign visa or residence permit) or at an embassy; some, such as Tanzania, must obtain one in advance at an embassy by invitation only. From 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, nationals of 111 listed countries who hold a residence permit from the US, an EU or Schengen state or a Gulf state (the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Oman), valid for at least six months from entry, can enter without a visa for up to 180 days in a year.

How long can I stay in Armenia visa-free?

Can I get an Armenian visa on arrival?

For some nationalities.
