Every foreigner must, after entering Yemen, go in person to the foreigners' registration office or the police station in the area where they live and make a declaration of their personal status and the purpose of their visit; the executive regulation sets the procedure, conditions and period (art. 9). Hotel managers, and anyone who houses a foreigner or rents them a place to live, must report the foreigner's name and address to the registration office or police within 48 hours of arrival, and report the departure within 48 hours (art. 13). Breaches are punishable by up to six months' imprisonment and a fine of up to 3,000 riyals, or one of the two (art. 42). The UK and Canadian governments say that if you stay in Yemen for more than 14 days, you must register your passport with the immigration authorities.
If not done: Imprisonment of up to six months and a fine of up to 3,000 riyals, or one of the two, for anyone who breaches articles 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 21, 23 or 25 (art. 42).
