Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Antigua and Barbuda?

Antigua and Barbuda's Immigration Department lists the countries whose citizens do not require a visa, among them the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and says they may stay as long as their business takes, provided the stay is no longer than six months. Citizens of countries not on its lists require a visa, applied for through the electronic visa process. Holders of a valid US, Canadian, UK or Schengen visa or residence card may instead be granted a single-entry Tourist Visa-on-Arrival for a stay of up to 30 days, for USD 100.

How long can I stay in Antigua and Barbuda without a visa?

The Immigration Department says visitors may be granted permission to land for up to six months, and that visa-exempt visitors may stay as long as their business takes, provided the stay is no longer than six months. An extension of stay must be filed before the entry endorsement expires, the applicant must appear personally, and an application fee is charged; the department's extensions page says an extension of stay is for up to three months, while its entry-requirements page says the period may be extended for further periods not exceeding six months upon application to the Chief Immigration Officer.

How much passport validity do I need?

The Immigration Department says a visitor's passport must be valid beyond the date of their return ticket. For the Tourist Visa-on-Arrival it requires a passport with at least six months' validity, and for an eVisa application a travel document valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to enter.

Do I need a return ticket?

Yes. The Immigration Department says a visitor must be in possession of a paid return ticket or a ticket to their next destination outside Antigua and Barbuda, and that visa-exempt visitors must have an onward or return ticket and confirmation of accommodation and be able to produce evidence of their ability to maintain themselves. Holders of the Tourist Visa-on-Arrival must also have a return ticket.
