Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe's Department of Immigration says Category B nationalities, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Japan, require a visa that may also be obtained at the port of entry after paying the fee, though it encourages processing the visa online before travelling; its fee schedule lists USD 30 for an ordinary single entry. Category A nationalities, including South Africa and Botswana, do not require a visa, while the eVisa portal says nationals of a third list must pay for and obtain a visa before travelling.

How much is the Zimbabwe visa on arrival?

The Department of Immigration's fee schedule lists USD 30 for an ordinary single entry at the port of entry, and online rates of USD 30 for an ordinary single entry, USD 55 single and USD 70 double entry for British citizens and USD 60 single entry for Chinese citizens, plus USD 55 for a multiple-entry visa. The UK government advises taking enough US dollars in small notes to pay for the visa.

What is the KAZA UniVisa?

The UK government says the KAZA Univisa costs USD 50, is valid for 30 days for travel between Zimbabwe and Zambia and for day trips into Botswana, and is available at Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls airports and at the Victoria Falls and Kazungula land borders. Zimbabwe's eVisa portal describes it as a special visa allowing entry into multiple countries within the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area within one month.

What currency should I bring to Zimbabwe?

The UK government says Zimbabwe has a multi-currency system and you can use US dollars for most transactions; it says Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) was introduced in April 2024 to replace the Zimbabwean dollar and the US dollar remains legal tender, and that change is rarely available, so carry small denomination notes.

Can I extend my stay in Zimbabwe?

The UK government says the visa on arrival is usually granted for 30 days and that to extend or renew a visa you go in person to the Government of Zimbabwe Immigration Department. No official source we could read states the length of an extension.
