The Government of Barbados says a visitor may obtain a temporary driving permit from the Licensing Authority or an approved car hire agency on a valid licence from their country of residence, valid for one year or until that licence expires, whichever is shorter; the Barbados Licensing Authority says visitors are legally required to apply for a visitor permit before driving.
