Driving on a Russia license
Laos and Russia are both party to the 1949 Geneva Convention, so an International Driving Permit issued in Russia is one Laos is bound to recognize.
Whether a permit is required alongside your national license is set by national road law, which we have not checked for this pair.

- Passport validity — The Lao eVisa terms say the passport should have a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in Laos; the UK government says your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date you arrive and at least 2 blank pages.
- Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) — The UK government says all foreign nationals entering Laos must complete the Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) digitally within 3 days before arrival and 3 days before departure, and that it applies at Wattay International Airport (Vientiane), Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport and the Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge I, where it replaces paper arrival and departure cards. The Department of Immigration says it launched the form on 1 September 2025 at these four checkpoints.
No official source states a rule on: travel insurance, onward or return ticket, and proof of funds.
