Oman's Foreign Ministry says that to obtain the 14-day visa exemption, citizens of the second-list countries must either be residents of, or hold a valid entry visa for, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, a Schengen Agreement country or Japan, or be residents of a Gulf Cooperation Council country in one of the professions that benefit from the resident visa.

You may not need this visa at all

The Royal Oman Police grants its GCC Resident Visa to foreign residents of GCC countries who visit Oman for tourism, provided they hold professions it specifies. It needs no sponsor and allows a single entry and a stay of four weeks, extendable for one week.

Citizens of the Foreign Ministry's second group of countries (among them India, Egypt, Morocco, Mexico and Vietnam) are exempt from entry visas for stays up to 14 days if they live in, or hold a valid entry visa for, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, a Schengen country or Japan, or live in a GCC country in a profession eligible for the resident visa. The stay cannot be extended, and a passport valid for six months, a return ticket, a hotel reservation, health insurance and enough money are required.

How to apply

What entry costs

Compulsory government charges only. Service fees and anything optional are excluded, which is what makes the figure comparable.

Yellow fever certificate

Arriving from Algeria, no yellow fever certificate is required: WHO does not list Algeria as a transmission risk. It can still be demanded if you have been in a risk country shortly before arriving.

Driving on a Algeria license

Algeria is party to the 1949 Geneva Convention and Oman to the 1968 Vienna Convention. They share none, so no treaty obliges Oman to recognize an International Driving Permit issued in Algeria.

Whether a permit is required alongside your national license is set by national road law, which we have not checked for this pair.
